Fix – Microphone not working in Skype (Ubuntu)

Skype logo

In Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) microphone in Skype doesn’t work out-of-the-box for our device.

Fortunatelly it’s quite simple to fix:

  1. Install PulseAudio volume control from Ubuntu software center. Search for ‘pavucontrol’.
  2. Run PulseAudio volume control and select the ‘Input devices’ tab.
  3. Lower the volume on the Right channel to zero.
  4. Run Skype. Go to Options -> Sound Devices and uncheck ‘Allow Skype to automatically adjust my mixer levels’.

That’s it. Test your audio with Skype Test Service.
